As our regular readers may remember we ran a story at the start of the year where by a driver of a late night First Capital Connect service risked the lives of members of the public to talk to a colleague who was sitting in first class.

We have again been passed some disturbing footage by a passenger travelling on a northbound service from Finsbury Park where the driver had the door to the driving cab open for the entire journey whilst also speaking to another member of staff who happened to be standing in the driving cab. (This can be seen on the right hand side of the shot)
The weather conditions at the time along the route were far from perfect, freezing fog and icy patches and falling temperatures would have mad driving conditions dangerous at the best of times. Drivers should have their full attention on driving not talking to colleagues.
We are demanding that First Capital Connect take immediate action against the offending driver and assure members of the public that this kind of behaviour is stamped out with immediate effect.
The video is as follows:
Previously when we published the article we were told that there wasn’t enough evidence for First Capital Connect to act on as it was only an image.
Now that we have video evidence of this extremely serious breech of Railway Regulations we hope that First Capital Connect sit up and take notice.
We have received an email from First Capital Connect who advise the following: “We will be investigating this fully as safety is our number one priority.”
We thank First Capital Connect for taking the time to reply and hope that this issue can be resolved.
Why don’t you busybodies get back to reading your copy of the Daily Mail. FCC management are the ones you should be looking to string up, not the drivers!!
This sort of thing happens more often than you might think…
