In our very first case we had a Miss E contact us regarding a Penalty Fare issued to her by a 'rather excited' inspector on First Capital Connect. Various rules were broken when this Penalty Fare notice was issued including rules 5.4 and 8.3. Furthermore the inspector failed to enter the time which the Penalty Fare was issued. We wrote her a letter to appeal with and has since won the appeal.
Mr L from Whitechapel, contacted us regarding a incorrectly issued Bus Penalty Fare. We assisted Mr L to complain to Transport for London as the place where he was alleged to have borded was on the notice incorrectly, plus the bus was going in the wrong direction in relation to the notice. He got his money back and an apology from TfL.
Mr C from Watford contacted us with regards to being issued a Penalty fare by Southern. We looked at his Penalty Fare and his statement and noticed that breaches of rules 4.31 and 7.3 had occured. We wrote a letter for him to appeal and he has since won his appeal.
In what has been one of the worse wrongly issued Penalty Fares we have seen here at PFAS, Mr P was issued a Penalty Fare by First Great Western for traveling on a first class ticket via a less then obvious route. The routing was a vaild route and has been confirmed as vaild both by ATOC and the National Routing Guide. Mr P with our assistance contacted First Great Western and was given a complimentry First Class ticket and a cash goodwill gesture.
Dr B from London, E-mailed us a copy of his Penalty Fare issued by First Capital Connect. We sucessfully assisted him in his appeal, and argued that there were several mistakes on the Penalty Fare notice and also the inspector failed to follow policy.
Miss H from Portsmouth was issued a Penalty fare by an inspector on South Western Trains. After looking over the Penalty Fare notice we descovered that the amount she had paid was not completed on the notice and instead this was left blank. Luckly she had kept her receipt. We wrote a letter for her and she won her appeal and the amount she had paid was refunded in full to her.
